TaxAct Vs TurboTax Vs H&R Block-Which software is best?

TaxAct Vs TurboTax Vs H&R Block-Which software is best?

Update: Trump pushed off the tax filing date for Federal taxes until July 15th. Thats great for taxpayers, but if you are eligible for a refund – don’t wait – file now! The sooner you file, the sooner your refund will post to your bank account.

One more thing to consider: President Trump called for a stimulus for middle and lower income people. However, you most. likely will only receive the money once you’ve filed 2019 taxes. (How else will they know if you are eligible?)

Its that time of year again. We need to start thinking-TAXES. (Oh well, the slumber since last year’s filing was nice!) But now, down to business. We need to figure out the whole new Tax System since it was revamped for this year – Hopefully to our benefit.

So, TaxAct Vs TurboTax Vs H&R Block-Which software should you use?

That depends who YOU are and what your tax needs are.

Basic Filers:

Use TurboTax – If you are filing a most basic return (previously 1040a) now the new 1040, We recommend Turbo tax, as they are all free, but with Turbo – the help is a bit better

Use H&R Block If you have a simple return, but need to file schedules 1-6.

Use H&R Block If you want the option of paying for in-person help at one of their 12,000 Brick & Mortar locations (starting at $59)

Use TaxACT‘s Basic Plan for Basic Filers with Dependents and college-related deductions –

For all other filers:

Use TaxActIf you want the most cost-effective solution & don’t find yourself having loads of questions. While they do offer support, it’s not as robust as TurboTax.

Use TurboTax If you have many complex situations – their interface is the most user-friendly – though Taxact comes in as a close second

Use H&R Block If you want the option of paying for in-person help at one of their 12,000 Brick & Mortar locations (starting at $59)

Worried about an Audit?

For Free Audit Assistance:

TURBOTAX gives everyone free audit “guidance” from a tax pro to help you understand what’s going on if you get that dreaded letter

TaxAct’s audit assistance consists of an FAQ page on its website.

Audit Representation: Both TaxAct & Turbo Tax offer to help & represent you in the unlikely event of an audit. They both charge $49, and it works as insurance does. You pay when filing whether or not you get audited & if you do get audited, they represent you for free.
